Sankalp Baliarsingh of Khurda and Sweta Senapati of Angul bagged titles in open and girls categories of the Odisha State Under-13 Chess Championship, which concluded here at Sector-7 today. Sankalp secured six points out of a possible seven, winning the first five games and drawing the last two against his district-mate Subhasis Barik and Diptansu Ranjan Swain of Sundargarh. Diptansu finished runner-up with 5.5 points.
Sweta regained the regained the title after a gap of two years, garnering five points with five wins. Shreejita Khuntia (Cuttack) and Anantyoya Chatterjee (Khurda) finished second and third respectively with four points each.
As many as 49 boys and 14 girls participated in the three-day championship, which was organised by Pragati Utkal Sangha in association with District Chess Association, Sundargarh. Top two finishers in open category and top three in girls section qualified to represent Odisha in the National U-13 Championship to be held at Jamshedpur from October 25 to November 2.
